There’s quite a lot to say about the Orlando mass shooting at the Pulse night club but one thing that has not been talked about enough is the timeline of the shooting on early Sunday morning. The shooting started at about 2AM and aside from killing club kids the terrorist also shot at an off duty cop outside the bar. That means a 911 call to the authorities was logged almost as soon as the shooting started but the killer was not capped until after 5AM which means he had three (3!!!) hours to murder and terrorize his victims. Three hours is a LONG time – it’s Baltimore to NYC by car, it’s sitting through The Titanic, it’s 23 showers – it’s 180 minutes of horror and I, for one, want to know exactly what the cops and authorities managing this fiasco were doing for 3 fucking hours.  The city of Orlando pays good money for their S.W.A.T. team and they should have been in that night club by 2:15 AM snuffing out the Jihadi freak who instead was killing homos and posting his exploits on Facebook.

In my youth there was a instructive TV program titled S.W.A.T. that perfectly captured G. Ford’s America. In those days no one knew what a S.W.A.T. team was – the whole concept was brand new – but under the leadership of Lt. Dan “Hondo” Harrelson (Steve Forrest) America met a team of dedicated professionals who shot first and asked questions later. I doubt that the psych profile of most S.W.A.T. leaders has changed much over the past 40 years which means someone “higher up” had their foot slammed on the breaks in Orlando. Who? Hand wringing over gun control, which is exactly the same thing the politicians and press did after San Bernardino, is useless until we get answers on how the cops can let a homocidal maniac leisurely kill defenseless civilians for hours without stopping him? It appears that the US Attorney General is determined to keep the US citizens subjects in blissful ignorance on that question.

U.S. officials will release partial transcripts of three phone conversations that the gunman who killed 49 people in a Florida gay club had with law enforcement during the massacre, Attorney General Loretta Lynch said on Sunday.

When it comes to fighting terror and protecting the American people I’ll take Lt. “Hondo” over Gen. Lynch every time. The Orlando terror attack is the reason S.W.A.T. teams exist – it’s why they’re paid the big bucks and train relentlessly to protect citizens and kill bad guys. They’re the bad ass cops the police call when the police can’t handle the situation. Why does the US Attorney General exist?
